PLACE FIRE ORIGINATED—If in risk insured, in what part? In rear basement and garret. If conflagration, what caused spread of fire? Fire. Was fire in exposure caused by moral hazard? No. Did fire spread through building, owing to elevators, chutes, stairways or other openings in floors? You bet it did. Was there any special weakness or faults of construction developed by this fire? (state if defective flues, fire places, thin walls, weak floor, supports, etc.) Some of them, of course. Did risk have curtain walls ? What is a curtain wall? Did they facilitate checking or extinguishing fire? Arguments tends both ways.
SALVAGE—Did nature of any part of risk (building or contents) afford special advantages for salvage? Stock moved before the fire.
MORAL HAZARD—Was property mortgaged or other-wise encumbered? Fes. Was assured financially embarrassed? No. Is there any reason to suppose that mortgage or financial embarrassment caused fire? Yes. Was risk at time of fire in the hands of receiver, assignee, sheriff or other court officer? A-o. If so, is there any reason to believe that this affected moral hazard ? Always does. If vacant, is there reason to be-
lieve vacancy caused fire? No. Is there any reason to believe the fire was caused by other moral features? Possible. If incendiary by other than assured, what is supposed motive of deed? To get insurance money. Is there any reason to fear another incendiary attempt? If he has a prompt settlement without discount.
